Sending you the warmest wishes for happiness in the New Year!

21 January 2019 Association

In January 2019, the office and staff of TBS Alumni wish you and all those close to you health, happiness, personal and professional success, and, of course joy to share.

The beginning of the year is the opportune moment to give you news, including news from our cherished school - our alma mater. We work alongside it every day so that every alumni, student, or graduate, have the same goals and works together to promote the reputation of TBS and the spirt of mutual aid that characterises us.

More than ever, we stand committed to our school and the TBS Foundation

TBS is one of the Grande Écoles, a designation for which we have reason to be proud. As coordinators of our alumni community, we consider it essential to everyone that we be here every day, and that we remain as close as possible to the actions of the school and the TBS Foundation.

This is why the TBS Alumni President is also a member of the school’s governing board and President of the Foundation. It’s why Toulouse Business School’s President sits on the TBS Alumni governing board. It’s also why most of the Foundation’s Ambassadors are also Active Volunteers of TBS.

As to TBS Alumni

The Association continues to grow thanks to Active Volunteers who work all over the world to accomplish our primary mission: organising the activity of the network and working towards recognition of our alumni, which is done in the spirt of mutual aid and solidarity.

We want to continue to offer meaningful encounters, whether a job dating, a conference, a social get-together organised by a former student who wants to open the doors of your business, or even a regeneration party organised by one of the 62 chapters and 10 student associations led by our 262 Active Volunteers. We salute their energy and spirit of belonging! Don’t forget! In order for our network to be efficient, you too have a role to play. By systematically keeping your profile up to date in the alumni directory, you will not only guarantee the usefulness of your connections, you will not miss out on information that you think is important. (In this regard, you can choose the topics to which you wish to subscribe).

To foster the sense of belonging to our community amongst alumni students from the moment they begin their programme, our student association (Tribu Etudiante), staff, and TBS Alumni vice-presidents approach the programme departments in order to give each new alumni the desire to know the graduates before they leave. In 2019, we plan to offer even more student / graduate get-togethers, such as Breakfasts, Back-to-School Today, and Alumni Coffees.

We are looking at new projects, (mentorship, business-datings), and we are here to hear from you regarding any new initiative that you’d like put into place. We can’t promise to do everything, but know that we will do everything we can to implement those that are necessary.  Have your seen the English version page of our site? As to the TBS Foundation

2018 was the 10th year of the Foundation

In 2008, the school’s governing body and its alumni association decided to create a mechanism capable of guiding the development of TBS and supporting its students. The TBS Foundation was born.

For 10 years, the core mission of the Foundation has not changed. What has changed is the impact that this foundation has made in the politics of innovation and diversity of TBS. Year after year, the TBS Foundation has known how to mobilise an increasing number of partner businesses and private donors to its side to defend its strong values of excellence and equality of opportunities that are dear to the entire TBS community.

We give immense thanks to all our partners who helped us organise our 10th anniversary evening and to all patrons, businesses, and individuals who supported us  - some from the very beginning.

New objective for the TBS Foundation: Help 150 young adults achieve their ambitions

Because the lack of financial means should not put the brakes on the pursuit of an education, the TBS Foundation has established a solidarity fund for those deserving students who are experiencing financial difficulties. For more than 10 years, we have tried hard to help all those students in difficulty. This year 143 scholarships comprising a total amount of 280,000€ have been allocated.

This has been possible thanks to the generosity of our private patrons, our partner companies (ATALE, BNP Paribas, Société Générale, Sopra Stéria, RH Partners, and Sygnatures), and student associations (la Fédération des Associations and sESCadrille).

The departments of Grande École Bachelor programmes also take part by allocating a portion of their budgets toward solidarity funds. This year, the Foundation is launching a new call for generosity so that all stakeholders (graduates, students, professors, administrative staff, and friends) can support the school's equal opportunities policy.

As to TBS

The modernisation strategy of our school has taken the form of multiple innovations, particularly:

The arrival of Bernard Ramanantsoa to TBS’s strategic planning committee:

An iconic personality in higher education in France, and Dean of HEC for 20 years, he ensures a mission of support of the strategic implementation with the school's authorities.

The KUBE:

On 10 January, TBS and its associates inaugurated The Kube (Knowledge Universal Brain Education), the school’s Learning Lab. A strong symbol of the pedagogical innovation and collaborative culture of TBS, The Kube is located in the centre of campus life of the Toulouse campus.

This lab of experimentation, development, adoption, and sharing of educational innovation heralds the new learning spaces of the future TBS campus.

DIGITEEN C@mp by TBS:

This is a first for a major French management school. During the Toussaint holiday (All Saints Day), TBS hosted 20 teenagers for a week to introduce them to the creation of start-ups. On the programme: design-thinking, robotics, programming, development of mobile applications and websites, use of social networks, understanding the main functions of the company, and realisation of a business plan. At the heart of this project is the intent to give young people a positive image of business, creation, and innovation. For TBS, it has three objectives: change the practices of teachers, enrich the courses, and gain visibility and image. This initiative will be included in TBS training programmes starting in 2019.

TBS, Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and Strathclyde Business School (Glasgow, Scotland) launch a Global Master in Industrial Management (GMIM)

As of the beginning of the new term, students of the TBS Grande École Programme will have the opportunity to obtain a triple degree: the Global Master in Industrial Management. This course of excellence is the result of close collaboration between three of the best international accredited institutions: MIP - Politecnico di Milano (EQUIS, AMBA), Strathclyde Business School (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA) and TBS (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA). It offers unique international perspectives to the students of the EMP, both in terms of its level and its openness to the partner companies and the alumni networks of each institution. It allows TBS to strengthen its international strategic alliances and to expand its "multi-degree" offers, already among the comprehensive of business schools.

Happy New Year!

The office, staff, and Active Volunteers of TBS Alumni constitute a formidable community at the service of the Alumni and the school. As it always has, we will work tirelessly in 2019 for you. Your attention and support are indispensable!
