TBS Alumni Team: confined, but active!

23 March 2020 Association

Just like everyone else, we are working from home :

it is not what we are used to, that's true, but the Dream Team has got organized !

Our team of students juggle and complete their work 10 hour-a-week schedule for the association, our 2 work-study students have found solutions to keep on track, our three permanent members of staff are working to fullfil the objectives given by the Bureau and are getting ready for the post-confinement period :-)

We are working all together and using sharing tools that we have been using for a long time (Freedcamp, Google Drive,...) and have our breaks together via a WhatsApp group where we share good news, music and other jokes : a virtual coffee break!

So, as you can see, no work shut-down, and if you have questions for us, or information you would like us to send out to the Alumni network, now just as before, Don't hesitate to contact us at alumni@tbs-alumni.com !

Cathy  One of the great advantages of working from home during this time is having my family by my side. I get a tea break every day with little homemade cakes by my daughter, and a music playlist that my husband renews all the time. These gestures make the fact that I can't go out easier to cope with!

The confinement is going well. I am happy that I came home to my parents, who have a big house and garden which is much nicer than my little flat in Toulouse. I try to do some sport every day to let off steam and I'm in constant contact with my friends through texts and facetime. I have a well-lit bedroom with a big desk, so it is a good environment to work in.

If digital means we can stay connected with our lecturers, students and work collegues, I have to admit that spending so much time in front of a computer screen weighs on me abit. Nevertheless, keeping up the rythmn helps keep up morale : Everyday I get up early, get dressed in clothes for work, have lunch and dinner at a reasonable time, do my homework and work, and above all, I keep up a physical activity to spend my energy.

Over the last couple of days I decided to organize my work and leisure time in the same way. To avoid falling out of routine, right from 7.30am I do everything the way I did it before : I get up, shower, get dressed as though I was going out. After work, I do some yoga, I make desserts and I've started drawing and colouring again.

I don’t feel alone at all during this time of confinement. On the contrary, the technology and digital tools mean we can keep in touch whatever the situation! As for friends, family or collegues, I get the impression that I see them (on the screen) almost as much as before. My work area is next to the window of my sittingroom, which means I can look out and escape when I feel abit cooped up !

My tips to survive confinement :

  • Continue to get prepared for work and keep up the work rythmn
  • Take advantage of the garden (I have followed some classes from the garden)
  • Play with the dog
  • Listen to music
  • Make lots of calls and Skype with friends to stay in contact
Penny   After the first week of home-work, I can share many positive points : :
  • I have a big desk ! I can spread out all my files, as the team know, at TBSA, I'm often hidden behind a mound of files.. my role is not « paperless » yet
  • The sun streams in from the window
  • Boston is working hard beside me
  • This home-work configuration requires discipline and an eye for detail. At the same time, it gives free reign to to creative imagination, and that is something I always love !
Raquel   We make the best of every situation : I'm taking advantage of avoiding any distraction from work with the help of my super assistant Wall-E 😊 »
As regards my confinement, I have kept all the same habits, I shower, get dressed for work, and I try to keep thinking positively.
Severine    Confined in my flat, I am keeping very busy ! Between e-learning andTSB Alumni, I have plenty to do ! Aha :) »
