TOWARDS INSPIRING & RESPONSIBLE RESEARCH

Statements about the importance and necessity of responsible research are increasing in the world of higher education and research. An example is the recently organized Colloquium for "Responsible Research & Innovation", which took place on January 15, 2021 in Paris. During this colloquium, I had the great pleasure of leading a roundtable in collaboration with the INRAE, INSA Lyon, CIRAD, Grenoble INP and the CNRS. The purpose of this roundtable was to discuss the methods of implementing responsible research and innovation.

These methods relate, for example, to the creation of management tools to assess the societal impact of research projects or even of support and incentive systems for researchers, in order to encourage inter-disciplinarity and, more generally, research that includes CSR and Sustainable Development issues.

These methods relate, for example, to the creation of management tools to assess the societal impact of research projects or even of support and incentive systems for researchers, in order to encourage inter-disciplinarity and, more generally, research that includes CSR and Sustainable Development issues. The responsible nature of research is assessed on the basis of its usefulness for various stakeholders, beyond the academic community: the student community, business community, the territories where the business school is located, the citizens, etc.

Useful research takes its full effect through efforts of scientific dissemination that make research results accessible and, consequently, increase their impact on all stakeholders: articles published in the professional press, scientific popularization videos, meetings between researchers, practitioners and students around research results, etc.

It also takes shape through contractual research partnerships, conducted with partner companies and external funding for the institution: setting up chairs, research contracts, participating in European projects, etc. The results of TBS’s research partnerships, expressed in the form of testimonials from researchers and partner companies, are highlighted in this newsletter.
