Martine CHAILLET (TBS 1991) : What if self-compassion led to professional success and happiness?

04 October 2021 Careers

Self-compassion happens when you consider yourself with benevolence and love when facing professional failure, relational difficulty, etc.

When this happens to you, what is your reaction?

Are you the type to flog yourself? Resent others and the situation for what happens to you? Or you face it by saying to yourself with lucidity and benevolence: Well, I am here, with my strength but also my limits. What am I going to do with this to evolve and transform this?”

This benevolence, this love, or even this humor with which you consider yourself, this is self-compassion.

Truer and more actors in their lives

Studies have shown that people with a strong propensity for self-compassion are more true to themselves. They know that they have some responsibility for what is happening to them and that they have the power to transform this situation. They are more positive, more aware of their limitations but also of their strengths. They are more able to improve.

An essential feature for leaders

A leader who has a strong propensity for self-compassion is more in tune with himself and therefore more in tune with others. He is more attentive, more caring. He supports his team from where they are to where they can go.

Success and happiness in bonus!

Self-compassion sets in motion a virtuous circle: better with themselves, people with strong self-compassion are more in tune with others and with the situation they are in. And this virtuous circle maximizes the chances of success and happiness.

What about you? Do you have a strong propensity for self-compassion?
