Valérie TITON (TBS 2018) - Co-Founder & Co-Director of JJTiton Consulting

25 March 2021 Association

Valérie Titon is a certified coach and has been running JJ Titon Consulting with her husband since 2005. The consultancy is based in Sophia Antipolis (Alpes-Maritimes). Valerie observes the emergence of a new set of needs.

What exactly do you mean by "company coaching" ?

Valérie Titon : "Coaching" is a term that is widely used. Company coaching is a form of support which is both personal and professional and includes precise objectives which are defined with the person involved. it is mostly a management issue, for example, "How can I motivate my teams ? I need to learn how to assert myself ? I need to learn how to manage my time ?"

In our interviews, we use tools based on humanistic psychology, transactional analysis and neurolinguistic programming (NLP). The premise is simple : we have a great deal of resources within ourselves. Our role is to help the person find their inner resources.

Does this type of coaching give results quickly ?

Valérie Titon : Yes, we have excellent results. Some of our clients have been with us since we opened our consultancy in 2005. The benefits can be felt quickly. It is not a therapy session. We remain in the realm of the professional situation. We study the person's reactions and what those reactions could have been. We give clues and give the keys to change.

"With the crisis, we can see new types of need evolving. The biggest challenge is re-motivating teams, especially those who are working at a distance."

What kind of profile do your customers have ?

Valérie Titon : There isn't a particular profile or area of activity. We work with a great variety of businesses, from Bouygues to Emerson, Alteo to Aqualung. We work with companies in industry, services, with big, luxury brands like Chanel, Hermès or the group Swatch. Our customers also include the construction industry and local collectivities or hospitals, especially at the moment, for example, Toulon hospital, Lenval Foundation for children in Nice. The problems aren't the same but everyone needs recognition, whatever level of responsibility they hold or their position within their company.

"Coaching is an investment in the human being"

What impact has the health crisis had on your customers' needs ?

Valérie Titon : Since last autumn we have seen a new type of need emerging from the crisis. The main problem involves re-motivating teams, particularly those who are teleworking. There is also a need to cope with anxiety and uncertainty. On one side, we have new customer requirements and on the other, we have new types of customers, for example, an embalming company based in Avignon. The manager was faced with completely new safety measures while having to deal with the fear of contaminating her employees. She has to uphold the motivation of her teams while overcoming her own fear. Never before have we intervened in this kind of environment.

Do you think that this type of need will continue to grow ?

Valérie Titon : Yes, I believe so because more and more of us are looking for meaning. The company environment should also be one where people can evolve and be comfortable. Coaching is a tool that can be used to combat this crisis. It is an investment in the human being. Finance, equipment, machines are one thing but if the teams are not engaged, the results will quickly decline.
