Cap Optimist, an unprecedented global challenge for the benefit of children with cancer

15 December 2021 Diplomas

The Hope Team Est association, chaired by Stéphanie Geyer Barneix and Alexandra Amand Le Mouël (TBS 2003), is a key player in the field of sport and health. And for good reason, the association supports people in the process and after treatment of chronic diseases towards a better life through sport.

Cap Optimist is the name of the challenge carried out by the association of these two passionate women, aiming to support children suffering from cancer.

This major project is based on three main themes:

- Supporting children at the end of their treatment through sporting challenges (from 2022 in Aquitaine),
- Raising awareness among primary school pupils through collective sports challenges (from 2022 in France),
- The Cap Optimist expedition: crossing the Pacific Ocean in a paddle-board, 8,000 km by force of arms (winter 2023, from Peru to French Polynesia)

Focus on the expedition!

Cap Optimist is a continuous relay on a paddle-board between six Supers Waterwomen (Stéphanie Barneix, Emmanuelle Bescheron, Alexandra Lux, Itziar Abascal, Margot Calvet and Marie Goyeneche) who will be accompanied by an assistance sailboat throughout the crossing.

The journey will cover approximately 8,000 km, between Peru and Moorea, and will take place during the winter of 2023 in order to take advantage of the tailwinds. A two and a half month crossing never before made by paddle-board!

If you are an optimist and want to contribute to the project in your own way, you can :
