Innovation

The crisis that the World is going through will have generated a short moment of consternation and the necessary obligation to react urgently to overcome its immediate economic and societal impact, reinforced by the sociological and environmental dimensions in the medium to long term. Health constraints have made production and delivery processes more cumbersome, and commercial relations have become more distant due to the distance and uncertainty of production. The management of human relations has taken on a different configuration with new working methods and new IT tools (BYOD). States have mobilised to save their economies through unprecedented support via financial instruments never before imagined.

If COVID came to us from China, the latter also inspired us during and after the crisis, the word "Crisis" being represented by an ideogram meaning both "Danger" and "Opportunity". The testimonies collected in this chapter "Innovation" tell how TBS Alumni leaders of start-ups and managers within large groups have exploited this crisis to transform it into an opportunity.

Olivier NOVASQUE explains how the crisis boosted his business by accelerating the digital transformation of management processes and teleworking. A change that had to be accompanied by human relations, as Neil Patacchini tells us, to avoid isolation, hyper connection, and the demotivation of employees regarding the company project.

On the other hand, the young creators of start-ups have had to redouble their creativity and mobilisation to keep their clients and suppliers, like Rodolphe Mondin and Julien Houssiaux, while Jérémie BLACHE has seen opportunities to adapt his organisational model and is banking on a strongly ecological and environmental awareness for the future.

So, no transformation without change management... Managerial practices are also evolving towards better communication between the hierarchical levels to maintain the involvement of employees and to make them responsible for implementing the new strategy imposed by the situation. So, we have a leitmotiv, a recurring theme : To maintain economic and social activity and to give oneself the means to innovate. Stay the course, adapt to the environment, and remain open to opportunities...
