Lynda Longeau (TBS 2015) - Results of survey on animating events to accompany change

03 June 2020 Diplomas

Last April, Lynda Longeau (TBS 2015), invited us to participate in a survey on animating events within the scope of accompanying change.

The purpose of this survey about the methods and practices during events within organizations was to identify how events are animated within the scope of change, and how they contribute to its success.

For those of you who participated in the survey, we thank you for your answers !

Here is a summary of the study

  • The majority of changes in progress are organizational: (67%) with digital transformation coming in at a close second place (54%) followed by managerial transformations (34%).
  • The events organized in the scope of change were mostly specific workshops which included between 1 and 50 participants (50%). The average duration was a half-day.
  • The majority of these events took place inhouse (77%) and were mainly led by the Project Manager (35%). A contrario, when they were held off premises, they were mainly run by external animators/facilitators.
  • Affiliation, participation and co-construction are amongst the advantages in relation to events in the scope of change.

What conclusions can be drawn from this study ?

As regards teams, these events mean a good number of participants (73%), better affiliation with the project (63%), better understanding of the project (61%) and finally, a good level of information (44%). As regards the project, the major benefit included co-construction of the solution (66%). Next in line are sharing milestones (58%) and quicker appropriation (46%).

Finally, for 77% of those who answered, after a crisis or period of isolation, a group event is more successful in bringing people together. In this way, the Covid 19 crisis which forced the majority of the workforce in France to do teleworking will surely have longterm effects on organizations.

If many French people, collegues and managers say they are ready to give greater value to teleworking in the coming months, there is no doubt that the events which bring people together, when it is possible again, will be a great vector for cohesion and team building.

Today's healthcare crisis will influence the re-writing of many work practices and ways to create energy within companies.. and lead organizations to increase the speed at which they implement change management.
