François DUPUY (TBS 1999) - Consultant in Leadership and Management

24 September 2020 Portraits / Podcasts

« It’s not the destination that counts, it’s the journey”.

Why did you choose TBS for your studies? Tell us about your time as a student at TBS!

After I finished high school at Montalembert ND, I went to law school and spent a year there without much passion or results. I realised that I wasn’t ready for university and that I needed a more general education, but didn’t know which way to go. I found that TBS had an organized and secure learning environment.

I got a bachelor's degree which involved going to Scotland for a year. When that ended, I didn’t want to do the second year of the Grande Ecole Programme. Instead I wanted to jump into the deep end of the working world.

Have you any stories about your year to share with us? Were you part of a student association at TBS?

  • The university rugby matches
  • The French world cup of grandes écoles
  • The late-night parties in bars
  • The group work
  • The interculturality - the year I spent in Scotland living like a Brit, practically avoiding the French students.

What are you doing today and how did you get to this point in your professional career?

I wanted to leave my parents’ house, have autonomy, and move on from co-dependence to independence (depending upon my phase of autonomy). I learned interdependence, the basics of entrepreneurship, and the logic behind solutionist and pro-business thinking. These all helped steer me towards my current profound professional and personal transformation.

So, I started working for large retailers to make my mark and to quickly apply what I’d learned. Then I worked in sales, key accounts negotiation, French and exports marketing, as well as in management.

After spending quite a short time at university and then experiencing a quite intense first professional experience, I decided to add to my profile and take my career in a new direction, so I signed up for executive education (HEC, ESSEC, etc.) and in personal development (sophrology, transactional analysis...) courses.

I’m a Leadership and Management Consultant, Executive Coach, Trainer, and Assessor at Harrison Assessment. I work with corporate management teams, leaders, managers, etc., to provide support in their strategic and operational, individual and collective "talent and performance transformation" projects. I’ve also started teaching in the elite higher educations establishments. On top of his professional activities – who is a consultant in “Leadership and Management”, and Coach certified by HEC Paris, François is your point of contact in the Bayonne Chapter !
