Juliette Chanu (TBS 2018) "illuminate the roof of the world".

02 July 2019 Association

A 2018 graduate with a Bachelor with the prize for Audacity, Juliette Chanu needs your help.

Having been lucky enough to be selected to participate in the Global Himalayan Expedition 2019, Juliette will go to the Himalayas to install electricity in isolated villages where kerosene, which is extremely polluting, is used to light the lamps.

She has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise the necessary funds .

Only a few days are left for her to raise the remaining amount needed to undertake this magnificent project.

You can find all the information you need, and donate here:

WHAT IS HER PROJECT?

"I was chosen to join the Global Himalayan Expedition in August 2019 to install electricity in the remote small villages of Ladakh. A useful and meaningful adventure, as well as a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I’ll be sent with other adventurers deep in the Himalayas to install solar panels that will solve different eco-sociological problems. Normally, these communities use kerosene to power their lights at night, which is equivalent to 1 tonne of CO2 released per lamp over 5 years, and the smoke of 298 cigarettes per year per household.

People have to trek for days or weeks to fetch kerosene tanks from the cities and bring them back to the village, which is a huge waste of time and energy for the entire community.

We must change that now!"
