BIGSIS PRO, the 1st mobile app dedicated to student safety

20 February 2020 Association

Created by two young graduates from the Innovation Management TBS Bachelor programme, the BIGSIS Pro application is designed to create alerts in the case of street harassment, to enable locating a bolthole in case of distress and to send out an alert when a student is witness to, or a victim of, an aggression. At the moment it is being tested by 5500 students on TBS campuses in France and deployment within more than 10 establishments is planned between now and September 2020.

A «digital bolthole» to counter the risk of harrassment and aggression

According to the INSEE study, 20,4 % of women and 17,1 % of men between the ages of 18 and 29 declare that they were victims of threats, insults and abuse in 2018 outside their homes. The study also shows that 6,1 % of women and 3,9 % of men in this age group had declared that they have been victims of street robberies, with our without violence.

It is in order to protect students from this type of situation on their campus and around town, that Alexandre de Crozals and Jules Campion decided to create the start-up BIGSIS. This pair of young entrepreneurs who graduated from the TBS Bachelor programme have developed the first bilingual application (French-English) to serve student safety.

« BIGSIS is the short name for Big Sister. We designed this application as a digital bolthole to ensure maximum safety during student years. Its features include signalling, handling and coping with a dangerous situation and provides a service to reduce being alone when out and about, which increase the risks. It is the first application of its kind to fight against harrassment and aggressions to be specifically designed for further education establishments. » Alexandre de Crozals (TBS 2019) & Jules Campion (TBS 2019), co-founders of BIGSIS

BIGSIS : A start-up made in TBS

Alexandre de Crozals and Jules Campion are graduates from the  Bachelor « English track » programme of TBS. In their 3rd year, they both chose Innovation Management before joining TBSeeds, the management school's incubator. it was there that the project matured as they developed their mobile application which was launched on 27th January this year,  after a 6-month conception phase, and a 6-month operational developement phase. Coaching, learning soft skills, learning new thought processes…the training and support provided by TBS gave them the tools to prepare their entrepreneurial adventure in the best conditions possible.
